This is a unique opportunity for a skilled, warm caregiver seeking a role that blends medical support with genuine companionship. A gentleman on Madison's east side is building a small support team and needs someone reliable for two mornings each week.
The role is structured around connection. While you will be responsible for specific clinical tasks—outlined below—the heart of the shift involves sharing conversation, watching favorite programs, and occasionally stepping out for a gentle neighborhood stroll or a quick errand together.
Compensation & Schedule Details:
- Rate: $21.00 per hour
- Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM (6 hours weekly)
- Employment: Direct hire through the individual's long-term care program. We adhere to all Wisconsin wage and labor standards and are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
- Training: Comprehensive, paid training is provided on all medical equipment and protocols; prior specialized experience is welcome but not required.
Daily Support Involves:
- G-Tube Management: Administering gravity feeding per the care plan while monitoring for comfort.
- Seizure Awareness: Observing for any activity and maintaining a safe environment.
- Mobility Assistance: Utilizing a gait belt for safe transfers and movement.
- Personal Care: Light assistance as needed.
- Companionship & Outings: Engaging in meaningful conversation at home and accompanying him on short, local excursions (weather permitting) to places like a park or coffee shop.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Open to learning G-tube feeding and seizure monitoring protocols.
- A clear, patient communicator who values relational care.
- Physically able to assist with transfers using a gait belt.
- Comfortable supporting safe mobility in the community (walks and vehicle entry/exit).
