Position Overview:
A male individual with a disability is seeking to directly hire a compassionate, detail-oriented person to assist with part-time food preparation. Your work will be essential in supporting his health and well-being by carefully following a specialized diet established by his healthcare team.
Primary Duties:
- Meal Planning & Execution: Plan and prepare meals and snacks that align precisely with the participant's dietary guidelines.
- Food Safety & Storage: Handle, store, and cook all items safely to prevent cross-contamination and preserve nutritional value.
- Grocery Procurement: Shop for groceries on behalf of the participant, ensuring every selection adheres strictly to dietary restrictions.
- Kitchen Upkeep: Keep the kitchen environment clean, sanitized, and well-organized.
- Personal Preferences: Balance the participant's personal tastes within the required dietary framework.
- Communication & Logging: Track meals prepared and notify the participant's support circle of any concerns or supply shortages.
Qualifications Required for Direct Employment:
- Mandatory Background Check: Must successfully clear a comprehensive background check through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). (This is non-negotiable for this role.)
- Relevant Experience: Prior food preparation background, ideally involving dietary restrictions (e.g., healthcare kitchens, personal chef work, allergy-conscious cooking).
- Sanitation Knowledge: Strong commitment to food safety protocols (ServSafe certification is a plus but not required).
- Precision: Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes with accuracy.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation necessary for grocery shopping and commuting to the participant's home.
- Interpersonal Skills: Compassion, patience, and a respectful demeanor when working with individuals with disabilities.
- Self-Management: Strong organizational skills and the capacity to work independently.
Employment Details (Set by the Participant):
- Compensation: $15.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Hours: Part-time, approximately 6–10 hours per week. Days and times are flexible to be arranged mutually between you and the participant.
- Status: Part-time, at-will employment.
